Yolanda Hayes Rucker is a Provisionally Licensed Professional Counselor (P-LPC) under the supervision of Leona Richards-Bishop, LPC-S, who brings more than 28 years of experience helping youth and adults find hope, healing, and balance. With a gentle spirit and a genuine love for people, Yolanda creates a safe space where clients feel heard, supported, and encouraged to grow.
“I hope to inspire growth, resilience, and confidence as my clients move toward healing and self-discovery.”
With a strong foundation in both education and mental health, Yolanda Hayes Rucker brings a wealth of experience and heart to her counseling practice. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Master of Science in Rehabilitation Counseling from Jackson State University, then went on to serve more than two decades in the Rankin County and Jackson Public School Districts. As a Professional School Counselor, she guided students through academic, social, and emotional challenges with care and compassion.
For over 20 years, Yolanda has also worked as an Intake Coordinator at St. Dominic’s Behavioral Health Services, gaining extensive experience in trauma and crisis response. These diverse roles have given her a deep appreciation for how emotional well-being, family, and community are beautifully intertwined. A National Certified Counselor (NCC) and National Certified School Counselor (NCSC), Yolanda is dedicated to offering exceptional care and fostering growth, healing, and balance in every client she serves.
Yolanda believes that everyone has the capacity to grow, heal, and thrive. She feels honored to walk alongside individuals as they navigate life transitions — helping them rediscover their strengths, restore confidence, and embrace new possibilities. Her calm and compassionate approach creates a safe, welcoming space where clients can freely explore their thoughts, emotions, and dreams.
She often reminds her clients, “Your horizon is so bright,” because she truly believes that each person has the power to rise above challenges and create meaningful change.
Outside the counseling room, Yolanda’s faith continues to guide her service to others. For more than 25 years, she has been a devoted member of Cathedral A.M.E. Zion Church, where she supports her community with the same grace, empathy, and dedication she brings to her clients.
For Yolanda, counseling is more than a profession — it’s a calling. Her mission is to help others see their worth, embrace their potential, and take intentional steps toward becoming the best version of themselves.
My approach to counseling centers on helping individuals recognize and reach their greatest potential. I strive to create a warm, nonjudgmental environment where people feel free and comfortable expressing their thoughts and emotions openly.
“Rooted in faith and family, I find joy in serving God and others—my purpose, passion, and guiding force in helping individuals reach their fullest potential.
